We are happy to report that we have completed Phase 1 of the search process which includes publishing the Parish Profile and officially posting our open rector role. Thanks to everyone’s input, we feel the profile truly reflects the spirit of Epiphany and clearly articulates our focus on God, Jesus, and our shared faith.
You can view the Parish Profile document here and hard copies are also available in the Parish Office. The vestry approved the Profile document on November 20th and it was approved the following week by the Diocese. The Diocese has since published our Parish Profile and posted our job description on their online system for all Episcopal clergy to see.
With these steps, we have also moved from the status of “Self-Study” to “Receiving Names”. This current phase is known as the “Prayerful Pause”, for now…we wait. We wait for prospective candidates to review our profile and discern if they are being called to apply for our new rector position. We will be receiving names from now until February 1st and in early February, we will establish a “long list” of roughly 8-12 candidates. This long list will be further refined through a series of in-person, phone and video-conferencing based interviews.
Just like any candidate search, we need to get the word out! This is the part of the process in which everyone associated with the Parish can take an active part. Please share that our Parish Profile has been published and that we are receiving names. You are encouraged to share the link to our profile across your various networks and social media channels (e.g. – Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). If you know of someone who would be a good candidate for the role, please encourage them to apply. If you do encourage a specific candidate to apply, please let the Search Committee know by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we know the candidate was Parishioner-sourced.
As we enter this next phase of the search, confidentiality becomes of the utmost importance. It is respectful to candidates who apply that neither their names nor status be shared with anyone outside of the Search Committee. This includes our clergy here at Epiphany, our Wardens, and the broader Parish. So, while we sincerely want your help in sourcing candidates, know we can’t provide any details on candidates moving forward. This even extends to simply confirming whether or not a candidate has applied. We thank you for helping us maintain this strict confidentiality – it really is for the privacy of the applying candidates.

At this time, we especially ask you to pray for candidates who are considering God’s call to apply for our rector role as well as the Search Committee as it evaluates applicants. Loving God, as we gather tonight, help us to pause and remember your presence. We have faith that you are here, within us, among us, between us. In this moment, and in all our work together, help us to remain present to each other, to listen with attentiveness and to speak with care. In this period of transition, guide us in discernment. Give us strength, courage, and wisdom that we may remain open to the call of your Spirit and to the new life that awaits our community. In the months to come, help our beloved parish family to welcome and support a new pastor and priest. In all of this, keep us grounded in your love. We pray in the name of our brother Jesus Christ, the author of our salvation. Amen.
