Virtual Evensong for All Saint's Day

  • November 01, 2020
  • 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

5:00pm on November 1st via Youtube

I hope you will join us for our first ever virtual Evensong at Epiphany. The Magnificat, Nunc Dimittis and anthem will be sung by the entire choir and our section leaders will sing the hymns, psalm and prayers.

Since this is our first attempt at putting together virtual anthems with the entire choir, you might be interested to know how this is done. A couple of weeks ago, Corey Hollenbeck recorded me playing the accompaniments for the anthems at the church. I took that recording and filmed myself conducting the anthems so that the choir members would be able to see where to come in and where their cut offs should be. I then added Corey’s soundtrack to my video and sent that to the section leaders. The section leaders recorded their parts and sent those back to me. I added their soundtracks to my conducting/accompaniment video and sent that off to the choir members. The choir members are now busy making videos of themselves singing their parts to the conducting/accompaniment/section leader video. When those are done, they send them back to me, and we put them all together so that we have a full choir singing beautiful anthems.

Evensong is a beautiful sung service of prayer, scripture, canticles, hymns and anthems that takes place at the end of the day. The Choir will be singing Herbert Brewer’s lovely melodic Evening Service in D and Charles Wood’s contemplative All Saints’ anthem Never Weather-beaten Sail. The service will stream at 5:00pm on Sunday, November 1st and the recording will be available after that on our website.
