El Hogar Reception with Denise Vargas

All are invited to a reception for El Hogar on Saturday, April 30 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in Hadley Hall. Epiphany has a long-standing deep relationship with this program serving children living in vulnerable conditions in Honduras. Many parishioners — youth and adults — have traveled to El Hogar over the years to experience this ministry directly. Meet the new Executive Director in Honduras, Denise Vargas, and learn about her vision and plans for the future of El Hogar. See and hear how El Hogar’s students are doing as they come back together as a community. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to Candy Beckwith at cbeckwith@elhogar.org or 781-729-7600

Graduation Sunday on May 15

On Sunday, May 15th at the 10:00 am service, we will be honoring this year's graduating seniors, as well as the members of this year's confirmation class. Join us as we recognize their hard work, give thanks for their presence in our community, and bless their next steps forward! The celebration will continue with a reception after the service.

Can You Help Teach Job-Search Skills?

Ihsanullah Rawan (Photo: WIRP)

We need your help in finding employment for the father of the Afghan family we’re helping to resettle in Arlington! This is an exciting time as the Rawans’ transition to independence gets underway.

Ihsanullah and his wife and five children were evacuated from Afghanistan last summer, and since January the Rawans have been supported by WIRP, the Winchester Interfaith Resettlement Partnership.

All Afghan evacuees have been granted work authorization by the United States government through their immigration status under Humanitarian Parole. Each family already has Social Security numbers and temporary work permits. Additionally, Ihsanullah has been enrolled in English classes since his arrival, which has motivated him to ask about how to find a job and to focus on skills that will enable him to communicate in a workplace.

Now our partnership needs at least two volunteers who would be willing to serve on WIRP’s Employment Committee. Initially the major focus will be assisting Ihsanullah with preparing his documents and resume, and then on related skills like getting familiar with the bus so he can get to work on public transportation. Ultimately this committee will likely be accompanying him to job sites and serving as a liaison with his employer.

If you have any interest in serving on the Employment Committee for WIRP, please contact Rev. Bob Davidson, frbobdav@msn.com or 970-222-2390.
