Outdoor Worship for Young Families
This summer we invite all families with children aged preschool through sixth grade to join us for a series of new outdoor worship services. These short, 30-minute services will take place in the Cloister Garden and are created especially for children and their caregivers to worship together. Our next Outdoor Worship for Young Families will be in the Cloister Garden on Sunday, June 27, at 5:00 pm. Pre-registration is required: please sign up here by Friday, June 25. 3 Crowns Update
Pleate note that, as of the first week of July, 3 Crowns will be released weekly on Thursday, rather than Monday. Following our issue on Monday, June 28, the next issue of 3 Crowns will be published on Thursday, July 8. We believe that moving the newsletter to Thursday will enable us to better highlight upcoming Sunday events.

Updated Protocols at Epiphany
Following public health directives for Houses of Worship in Massachusetts, as well as the guidelines of our Diocesan office, we share the following updates to our practices and protocols here at Epiphany:
Sunday Worship
- Beginning June 20, we will increase seating to every other pew—allowing for 90 attendees at each Sunday service.
- Registration for services is required through June.
- Registration for services will NOT be required beginning in July.
Mask Wearing
- Masks must continue to be worn inside during worship services.
- Masks are not required when outside.
Fellowship and Gatherings
Fellowship in the Cloister Garden will continue during the summer. Hadley Hall will be used for fellowship during inclement weather; all windows and doors opened for air ventilation. Masks may be removed while consuming food and beverage.
Small Groups and Committees are able to return to in-person gathering at the church if they wish. Please contact the parish office at office@3crowns.org or 781-729-1922 to request space and approval. We encourage groups to still offer a virtual option for those who are unable to attend in-person.

Yoga Class Returns to Epiphany
After a 16-month hiatus, Friday morning yoga begins again! Pam Gaither is delighted to invite you back, and welcomes you if you're attending for the first time. - Date: Friday June 18, 2021

practitioners. All levels are welcome.

- Precautions: All students must be fully
vaccinated. Masks optional. 4-6 foot distance. Ventilation.

Juneteenth Commemoration Panel
Juneteenth is celebrated throughout the US on June 19 to recognize the end of slavery. 155 years later, mass incarceration has repacled it as a form of bondage in Black and Brown communities.
On Tuesday, June 15 at 7:30 pm, join the Network for Social Justice and the Winchester Public Library for a virtual panel discussion on criminal justice with three panelists: Donna Patalano (General Counsel for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office); Helina Fontes (Program Director of Northeast Recovery Learning Center); and Sean Ellis, who was recently exonerated after spending 22 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Mr. Ellis was recently the subject of a Netflix documentary called Trial 4.
Attendees are encouraged to first read Just Mercy (adult or young adult version) by Bryan Stevenson or view the film of the same title for context. The event is appropriate for adults and school-age children age 13 and up. To register, please click here.

Julie Carrick Dalton Book Discussion
On Thursday, June 24 at 7:30 pm, Epiphany parishioner Julie Carrick Dalton will join a Zoom call to discuss her award-winning Climate Fiction book Waiting for the Night Song.
Part climate fiction, part mystery, Julie’s debut novel weaves her love for the New Hampshire lakes and woods into a riveting story. The protagonist, Cadie Kessler, works as an entomologist, trying to protect the New Hampshire woods from an invasive species and the ever-present fear of drought that could lead to devastating fire. Through Cadie’s eyes, we see her beloved forest as living and breathing, worthy of care.
On June 24, Julie and Nick Myers will discuss the influence of climate change in her novel, the power of friendship, and a call to fight for what we believe in.
You’ll want to read the book before the book discussion. It’s available at most bookstores. Bookends in Winchester is currently offering a 10% discount.

Support Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City
Even in the midst of bombardment and destruction, Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City continues to stand tall as a safe haven for its neighbors. Throughout the 11 day war, Ahli - the only Christian hospital in the densely populated occupied territory home to two million Palestinians - treated people with broken bones and shrapnel and glass injuries as well as regular medical care.
Ahli Arab Hospital is operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem. In response to the hospital’s needs, the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem (AFEDJ) has sent out appeals to donors to help with the most pressing of those needs.
Emergency funding has begun to enable to hospital to:
- Increase the free community clinic from one day to four days a week
- Purchase fuel to power the generators the 18 to 20 hours each day when the power grid is offline
- Purchase medicine and medical supplies
- Expand its burn center to treat an increased number of children with burns
- Expand its psychosocial rehabilitation program to treat children and their caregivers severely traumatized by the war
Suhaila Tarazi, the hospital's long-time director, says, “To our friends in Ahli’s mission of healing, I give thanks. Though the situation in Gaza is horrifying and grim, we at Ahli are confident that through your support we will replace despair with hope, mourning with comfort, humiliation with dignity, and injury with healing."

Epiphany Views from the Pews
To share our excitement about reuniting again in person, we have initiated a brief “views from the pews” video series inviting parishioners to share their favorite place to sit in the pews, what they may have missed while being away from Epiphany over the past 15 months, and why they’re excited or looking forward to returning to church in person. These very brief videos (a minute or less) will then be shared on our website and in social media to give people (especially newcomers) a snapshot of who we are as a parish community.

You can also record a message from home and email it to her if easier. We look forward to collecting many of these short videos over the course of the next few months! |
