Our Epiphany: A Place to Belong

I have heard it said more than once that, "Stewardship is everything you do after you say yes to God." The way we steward our time, our relationships, our money, our gifts, our joy, our pain, our anger, our hope—the entirety of our lives—is an act of faith. Together, we are stewarding the life of Parish of the Epiphany.

Not many of us have had the opportunity to lay a cornerstone of a building or a church. You can see pictures of Epiphany's laying of the cornerstone in the hallway from the sanctuary to Hadley Hall. No one in that photo is alive today; yet, their dreams live on in our shared ministry and life together.

In many ways, we are laying a new foundation here at Epiphany as we regather to rebuild and renew our life together. Here we are with our trowels and mortar, our prayers and our stewardship, seeking to build something beautiful and transformative for God and neighbor. During this season of our annual Stewardship Campaign: Renew + Rebuild, we want to share with you some voices and stories from our community. It is a reminder that we each can have an epiphany here and experience God's goodness in our lives or the gift of being community together in this place. We are beginning a new chapter here at Parish of the Epiphany. It is rooted in our past, connected to each person who calls this place home, and shaped by the directing Spirit of God's Spirit. We pray you'll join in.

Please join us on October 23 at 7:30 pm for Esperanza, a joyful, immersive, virtual multi-media event to benefit El Hogar. If you are new to Epiphany, you may not know that our community has been a long-time partner with El Hogar, which offers a home, an education and a family to children born into extreme poverty in Honduras. Many of our adults and youth have served on service trips to El Hogar, sponsored students, and supported the transformative work that takes place there. Come and meet students and teachers, and learn about the exciting changes that are underway at El Hogar.

Evensong Returns on November 7 at 5PM

Please plan to join us for a service of Choral Evensong on All Saints’ Sunday. Choral Evensong is the most particularly Anglican service in all of Christian worship. Originating from monastic hours, it consists of the distinctive parts of the ancient office of Vespers and Compline. The choir offers canticles, prayers, and anthems so that everyone’s devotions at the end of the day may be enhanced by music, scripture, and candlelight.

The choir will sing Herbert Brewer’s Evening Service in Dprayers, and responses by Herbert Sumsion and Richard Shephard’s beautiful setting of Isaac Watts’ text Give Us the Wings of Faith.

Give us the wings of faith to rise within the veil, and see the saints above,
how great their joys, how bright their glories be.
We ask them whence their victor came: they, with united breath,
ascribe their conquest to the Lamb, their triumph to his death.
They marked the footsteps that he trod, his zeal inspired their quest;
and following their incarnate God, they reached the promised rest.
Our Leader claims our praise for his own pattern given;
while the long cloud of witnesses, show the same path, the path to heaven.

Nominations for 2022 Service Are Open

Submit Your Nomination!

The Parish of the Epiphany needs leaders who are committed to growing their faith in Jesus Christ, excited about this parish community and the Episcopal Church, willing to roll up sleeves, pray, and oversee our common life.  At our annual meeting in January 2022, we will elect one warden, one clerk, three vestry members, a treasurer, an associate treasurer, two people to attend the 2022 Diocesan Convention, and two people to represent the Parish of the Epiphany at meetings of the local Deanery (the 13 parishes in the Mystic River Valley).

Email your nominations for any of these positions to nominations@3crowns.org or use the online survey here to submit a nomination. A paper ballot box is also available near the main entrance to the church, in the narthex. Nominations will be accepted until October 31.
