A Message from Rev. Janelle, What Epiphany Means to You, and Your Voice

Epiphany Survey

Before I was a priest, I was a graphic designer, and I have seen time and time again the power that a new brand can have in aesthetically representing mission, vision, and goals. It truly is an act of hospitality to authentically represent who we are with those who have yet to come through our doors. A new brand is also a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our identity, who we have been, and where God is calling us next.

At the direction of the vestry and Nick, we have compiled a team of parishioners that have been meeting since last fall to help lead this exciting new project We have come to a point where we are ready to start working on our new brand and website. We have selected a graphic designer to do our new brand and are entering the initial stages of that process.

We want the voice of the community of Epiphany to be a part of this.

We will be holding two listening sessions to hear from you all and share thoughts and ideas. The first will be on Wednesday, March 6 during Midweek. The second will be after the 10:00 am service on Sunday, March 10.

We encourage you to attend those meetings as well as to put down some of your initial thoughts in this survey.

First Sunday Intergenerational Worship: Roles for Children on Sunday, March 3

Would your child or teen like to take part in our 10am worship service on March 3? On the first Sunday of each month, children stay for the entire worship service, and children and teens are invited to sign up for special roles.

Greeters welcome people into the sanctuary and church. Ushers give out bulletins, help people finds seats, and assist with the offering. Element Bearers carry the bread and wine to the altar before communion. And lectors read the scripture of the day.

Taking part in the service gives children and teens special insights into our worship, and is also such a gift of service to the entire community.

Lent in Our Children & Family Ministries

Throughout Lent, our Church Schoolers' lessons focus on the coming holy days, including Easter. We explore in many ways how Jesus entered Jerusalem for the final time; Maundy Thursday, the last supper, and Jesus’s arrest; the sorrow of his death; and the joy of the resurrection on Easter. We'll let our feet trod the walk into Jerusalem, and we’ll put our hands into the city walls. We'll  wonder about the connection to Easter eggs. Throughout, we’ll explore the mystery that is Easter, and focus on the joy of God's love and resurrection.

At Midweek (our parish-wide dinners on 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings), children will explore the full life and ministry of Jesus as we watch how his story comes together in Lent and with Easter as we build our "Jesus Tree."

At home, we hope you try out the spiritual practices for families that you're receiving in the (paper) mail each week. These are short, simple ways to connect as a family and can help grow faith and love in all ages.

Moms of Young Children:

Next Gathering March 17 at 11:30am for Lunch

Moms of children in elementary school (ish) and younger are invited to join a new discussion, support, and comic-relief group.  We'll get together in person every six weeks or so to talk about a selected topic (pre-reading/listening/viewing will be available but optional) and check-in.  We'll support each other between meetings via a WhatsApp group (also optional).

Our next gathering is Sunday, March 17 after church. We'll send our little ones home and stay at church for lunch.

Contact Sarah McGonigle at sarah.p.mcgonigle@gmail.com with questions and/or to join us.
