Dear friends,

This Sunday is the conclusion of the Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Council of Social Concern, which is a great opportunity to involve children in giving and get everyone in the holiday spirit. Even the little ones can help you decide what to get at the grocery store (see the list below), and their involvement really helps them grow in an awareness that many in our surrounding towns worry about having enough good, healthy food to eat.

We'll focus on this idea of food, giving and gratitude at our 5pm Worship for All Ages Service. (If the weather is poor or too cold, the 5pm service will be held in Hadley Hall with ventilation, air purifiers, and masks.) We hope you can join us!

There are lots of plans in the works, as we head into the busy season of Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas -- please see below for details and ways you can be involved!

Warmly,

Bryn

The Christmas Pageant is Back: Mark Your Calendars for Sunday, December 19, at 10:00am.

Our beloved pageant went virtual last year, with magnificent music, art and reading from our resilient children. This year, we're back in person! Our pageant will be during the 10:00am service of worship on Sunday, December 19. More details, sign-ups, and volunteer opportunities coming soon!

Midweek: Wednesday, November 17

Midweek is this coming Wednesday, beginning at 6:15pm with a delicious dinner (thanks Cooking Team!) followed by formation programming for all ages from 7 to 7:30pm.

The menu will be: Lasagna, Salad, Garlic Bread, Cookies

It looks like it may be chilly this Wednesday, so there will be plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (bring your stadium blanket if you'd like to eat outdoors). It is likely we will move our children's programming indoor for 7-7:30pm. Music would be held in the Sanctuary, which has plenty of space and a new air purification system. Art would be held in Hadley Hall, again spaced out and with ventilation and air purifiers running. Masks will be required when indoors during formation programming.

We hope to see you all, as we use our new bell chimes (terrific for our youngest parishioners) and work with the idea of gratitude and thanksgiving (and diffusion painting!).

To help with cooking, set-up, serving or clean-up, please sign-up HERE. Helping with Midweek is a fun time together!

The Christmas Fair Is Coming: Saturday, November 20

Our Christmas Fair is on Saturday, November 20. Please join the fun in Hadley Hall. This is a favorite event for adults and kids, alike. Our Kids Store is an entire space just for kids. In the store, kids shop for Christmas presents, do a few crafts, read (or buy) a book or two, and generally have a great time.

Can You Help?

There are a number of fun jobs to be done. Particularly, we are looking for waiters for our lunch cafe and greeters!

3, 2, 1, BAKE
One of the favorite tables at the Christmas Fair is the BAKE TABLE!! Please plan to fill it with delicious homemade treats. Make your favorite cookies, breads, pies or other specialty and deliver to Hadley Hall kitchen on Thursday, November 18 or Friday, November 19. Thank you for your donations!!

Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Council for Social Concern: Through this Sunday!

Epiphany will continue our tradition of celebrating this season of gratitude by contributing to the Council of Social Concern's Thanksgiving food drive. Last year we had a tremendous outpouring. Can we count on you to help again?

A list of suggested food items is below. Local grocery store gift cards in $15, $20, and $30 amounts are also needed so families can buy turkeys and other perishables. Please put gift cards with the amount noted on the card into sealed envelopes.

Bring donations of food and gift cards to the church lobby or Outdoor Worship by Sunday, November 14. Thank you for your support!

Outdoor Worship for All Ages: This Sunday, Nov 14, at 5pm

Please mark your calendar for all these short, half-hour services of worship in the Cloister Garden. ALL ages and all households are invited for this child-friendly, simple but meaningful time of singing, eucharist, creative prayer, and a homily.

Our next scheduled Outdoor Worship schedule is November 28. This is the first Sunday of Advent!

Thanksgiving Donations for Students at
St. Stephen's Youth Programs

For 14 years, Parish of the Epiphany hosted a “Turkey Wahoo” at St. Stephen's Youth Programs (SSYP), an afternoon of Thanksgiving-themed crafts, games, fun, and food. In 2020 and sadly again this year, the lingering pandemic has and will force us to instead provide 60 bags of groceries so that the students and their families may enjoy an abundant and culturally familiar meal at home. Please click below to choose what you would like to donate and please bring your food items with your pledge on Ingathering Sunday, November 21.

The Changing Seasons & Indoor/Outdoor Programming: This Week's Update

With colder morning temperatures, we are going to begin our Church School time indoors. All ages will gather in Upper Parish Hall. For circle time our 3rd-5th graders will move to the Garrett (next to Upper Parish) for 10-15 minutes, so they can best hear each other. The Garrett is large enough for 6' social distancing (made easier by the placement of big comfy chairs), and we will have the windows open and an air purifier running. They will then return to the Upper Parish Hall for the prayer, craft, and movement portions of our morning.

Masks that fit securely over the nose are required throughout the entire class. Please confirm with your child that they do not have any illness symptoms before joining us. Thank you!

Please always send your child with a warm coat, hat, and gloves. Most Sundays we will strive to spend at least a little time in the Bishop Garden--even if our "sit down" portions need to be indoors so we don't freeze.

Please know you are very welcome to email or call Bryn to talk about ideas or concerns as we continue to navigate formation during the pandemic. We are constantly reassessing and adjusting, and your input is critical as we do so.
