Dear friends,

I dearly hope these first weeks of school have been a blessing for you and your children. My own household has met an equal mix of excitement and exhaustion, and while that combination always calls for A-Game parenting, I pray you all are finding rest and joy amid the transitions and the work of helping our children settle into new routines.

I very much hope your schedules allow you to join with us this Wednesday evening (and all 1st and 3rd Wednesdays going forward) as we gather as a whole church for dinner and a time of growing in faith. It will be a time to invest in true friendship across generations, and to relax and learn in a loving community.

Peace,

Bryn

Midweek: Dinner & Formation Wednesday, September 22 from 6:15-7:30!

Please join us for dinner from 6:15 to 6:45. Then children (PreK-3rd grade, and 4th-7th grade) are invited to a faith-focused arts formation program with Craig and Bryn from 6:45-7:30, while teens and adults meet for study with Nick.

All children's programming will take place outdoors, under the canopy tents in the Cloister Garden. Seating for dinner is also available outdoors.

6:15-6:45: Dinner

6:45-7:30: Arts programming for children in preschool through 7th grade (music and visual arts). Study with the rector for teens and adults.

Are you interested in helping with Midweek? Bryn will need an assistant teacher who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty and who loves creating! Please email Bryn if you're interesting in signing up for a week (or two or several!).

Church School Begins Next Week on September 26: Please Register!

It's time! Thank you to all who have registered for Church School. If you haven't had a chance, please quickly let us know how you'd like to participate this year.

Register

In-Person, Outdoor Church School on Sunday Mornings at 10am

We meet under canopy tents in the Bishop Garden during the 10am worship service. We'll make friends, hear stories, do projects, and explore prayer in fun, hands-on ways! Children can join their families in the sanctuary before communion, or opt to stay outside until the conclusion of worship.

At-Home, Family-Led “Church” School -- Anytime that Works for You!

At-home formation is family-centered and family-led. You'll get the same materials we’re using for in-person church school, as well as weekly emails with support like background information and questions to ask. Your child will also get paper mailings from our teacher team! If in-person church attendance doesn’t work for your family this fall, or if your family wants to sit together through the entire church service, this is a great option!

Both at-church and family-led church school will use a curriculum called Storymakers, which creatively retells stories from the Old and New Testaments through “zines.” (Zines are a combination guide, magazine, and workbook.)  Jump into some of the most amazing stories of God's love and regular people like us who served God in extraordinary ways.

Please register your children so we can create the right environments and get material into everyone’s hands. Please email Bryn with any and all questions, concerns, or ideas.

Youth: Ice Cream & Conversation with Nick

Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to join Rev. Nick for frozen hoagies (think ice cream) on Sunday, September 26 at 3pm, at the church. Nick really wants to hear your voices as Epiphany begins the process of hiring a full time youth minister. Please come, spend some time together, hear about the new position, and share your hopes for who and what it can be.

RSVP here please!

Communion Enrichment Program for Children in Second through Fourth Grade

This year Parish of the Epiphany will be offering a Communion Enrichment class designed to help children better understand the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. This class will be for children in grades 2-4, including those who began the program in 2020 shortly before the shut-down. If you're interested in learning more or having your child participate, please contact Bryn Hollenbeck. More information about time and format will be decided by the group.
