Music: Choirs

Choirs

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing." Psalm 100:1-2

We offer our music as a way to praise God. And at the same time, it is often in our music that we draw closer to God and hear God. Music can speak to our souls and nourish our spirits. Our deep tradition of musical excellence draws us in and sends us out renewed and refreshed.

The Road Home

Parish Choir

The Parish Choir is comprised of highly committed volunteer singers, supported by professional section leaders, who offer the finest choral music in the Anglican tradition. Drawing from many periods in history and honoring current-day composers, we focus on music’s unique place in liturgy. We are a warm, friendly group, constantly striving for excellence, who are committed to serving Christ and our community with our musical offerings in regular rehearsal and worship.

The Parish Choir rehearses throughout the school year (September – May) on Thursday evenings and sings at the 10:00am service as well as at choral evensong, funerals, and feast days. During the summer months (June – August) we suspend Thursday rehearsals, but continue to sing in the form of a summer ‘pickup’ choir.

Youth Choristers*

*Our Choristers are not singing during this time of COVID-19, but our youth formation continues in our Genesis and YPF groups.

The Youth Choristers, ages 8 to 18, gather each week for a time of music education, rehearsal, and fellowship. The chorister program offers a unique opportunity for our young people to explore their faith, develop their musicianship, and connect with a supportive group of peers from many different communities and schools. The Youth Choristers join the Parish Choir to sing one Sunday each month.

Children's Choir

The Children’s Choir welcomes our youngest preschoolers through 7-year-olds to experience the joy of music! We gather twice each month during our Wednesday evening Midweek program to explore fun and engaging ways of making music. Through singing, handbells (kid-friendly tone chimes), guest instruments, and percussion, we introduce music that captures the spirit of our young people. You don’t have to be able to read music (or even read) to join this joyful choir! We especially look forward to hearing the joyful noise of our children in worship on Palm Sunday, baptisms, and of course, the Christmas Pageant.
