Weddings

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” Corinthians 13:4

Just as baptism is a new beginning, holy matrimony is also the start of a journey together in faith. The Parish of the Epiphany is delighted to provide wedding services for members of the church and their families. In addition to the wedding ceremony, the parish’s facilities can be rented for wedding receptions.

All arrangements for your wedding at The Parish of the Epiphany begin with notifying the Rector or officiating minister. She or he will schedule a time to meet with you to discuss a date for your wedding, and to schedule at least three premarital counseling sessions between you and the officiating clergyperson.

For information about scheduling a wedding, please contact the Parish Office
or 781.729-1922.

Wedding FAQs

Q: Are you baptized?

Although we welcome all people at Epiphany, at least one of the persons to be married must have received Holy Baptism. The Episcopal Church accepts the baptism of any Christian tradition, which baptizes in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If you’re not baptized, a member of the clergy would be happy to prepare you to receive this sacrament before you are married.

Q: Premarital Counseling with the Clergy

We meet with all couples for a minimum of four hours, generally meeting for three or four sessions, to help prepare them for their new life together.

Q: Receptions

Hadley Hall, Epiphany's parish hall, may be used for a reception following the service. Portable ramps are available for wheelchair access to all buildings and the Cloister Garden.

Q: Preparing a Program

The Order of Service generally follows The Celebration and Blessing of A Marriage Service in The Book of Common Prayer. The service should be discussed with the clergy person officiating. Decisions regarding readings, hymns, psalms and other particulars to the service are made at this time. If desired, a program will then be made up describing the order of service.

Q: Music

Wedding music is planned by the bride and groom in consultation with the Director of Music and Organist. While the bridal couple may make specific requests, Holy Matrimony is a service of the church, and the music needs to be appropriate for such an event.

Q: Seating

From quiet family weddings to larger affairs, the Parish of the Epiphany is happy to accommodate your needs. The chapel comfortably seats 35 people, and the church holds up to 400 guests.

Q: Assisting and Visiting Clergy

The Rector is always glad to make the facilities of Epiphany available to other Clergy for the conducting of Marriage services. Please make arrangements with the Rector.
